Chesham United Ladies FC: In form team?

Chesham United Ladies FC’s 23/24 season campaign saw them finish in 9th place in the South East Division One. They ended up with a total of 19 league points consisting of 5 wins, 4 draws and 13 defeats and managed to stay 10 points above the drop zone. This season sees Chesham in a similar situation as they currently sit in 10th position with a comfortable 8 points between them and the relegation zone.

The start of the season was a difficult one for Chesham and starting from September 25th, they went 6 league games without a win. This poor run of form did not last however, and they have now earned 8 points out of their 4 most recent league games. These hugely positive results demonstrate that they are more than capable of competing at this level.

Standout Players and Key Contributions

Chesham’s number 17 Gemma Fraser, is undoubtedly a player to watch as has scored an incredible 19 goals in only 18 games for the club this season. Her prolific nature in front of goal will be crucial if Chesham hopes to continue this excellent run of form.

Natalia Makowaska, who wears the number 9 shirt, is also a player to keep your eye on with her 5 goals helping to earn her the accolade of opposition player of the match 3 times this campaign.

Key Results so far

Chesham did well to beat 12th place Ashford Town (Middlesex) Women FC in a resounding 3-1 win in August which saw Makowaska score two big goals.

As well as that, their January 26th fixture, which pitted Chesham against 8th placed Cambridge United Women FC, saw Chesham come out on top with a resounding 5-2 victory. On this occasion, it was Fraser who impressed for Chesham as her stellar performance resulted in receiving the player of the match accolade.

Cup Runs: Potential silverware?

Chesham have had success this season in the Berks and Bucks County Cup and are currently in the semi finals of this competition. This impressive run has seen them record an impressive 4-1 win in the quarter finals against Penn and Tylers Green Ladies.

They also reached the first round proper of the FA Cup but their hopes of a long cup run were thwarted by a defeat at the hands of fellow-London side Fulham FC Women.

Big signings

Whilst not a new player for the club, the retention of Gemma Fraser, was a great decision as the forward’s massive 17 goals has been indispensable for the team.

As for new signings, Chesham made a solid one in Madelene Wright, a former Charlton Athletic Women’s player, as she looks to bring her experience of high-level football to the team.

Upcoming Fixtures: Can they continue their brilliant form?

As the season moves into the final months, Chesham will need to keep up their current red-hot form if they want to move up the table. One excellent opportunity for Mani Asare’s side to move up the table will be their fixture on the 9th March against 9th placed Dulwich Hamlet FC Women.

A strong test for this Chesham side’s strong run of form will be their clash with league leaders Real Bedford Women on the 23rd March. After a difficult fixture earlier in the season, Chesham will be looking for revenge.
