Welcome to Tier 4: Bradford City Women

After finishing the 26/27 campaign top of the North East Regional Women’s Football League, Bradford City Women will officially be playing FAWNL football next season.

Their league campaign was a dominant one with the side playing 20 matches securing 19 victories and only one defeat across the entire campaign. This impressive run of form was enough to see the side finish the season on 57 points, two points clear of their nearest rivals Thornaby Women. What is especially remarkable is their notable home form which saw the side win every game, concede just five goals and net a huge total of 54 times. Their ability to score goals so often meant that this Bradford City side finished the season with a huge goal difference tally of 78 (21 more goals than their nearest rivals).

As well as their promotion winning league campaign, this Bradford side were also successful in their respective cup competitions. For example, they reached the final of the County Cup just narrowly missing out on the silverware in a tight final against Tier 4 side Leeds United Women. Similarly, they also reached the league cup final four but unfortunately experienced heartbreak at this semi-final stage when they found themselves on the losing side of a penalty shootout.

One standout player for the club this season has been prolific forward Monika Štube who picked up not only the manager’s and supporter’s player of the season awards but also claimed the goal of the season award following her magnificent long range strike against Harrogate women. She also managed 14 goals in 22 appearances demonstrating how she always has a keen eye for goal. Another key attacking player for the side has been their forward Summer Paley. After netting 15 times across 27 games no one can deny the potential that this young forward has. What is also impressive is her advocacy work outside of the pitch to encourage clubs to do heart checks following her sudden collapse during a match in 2024.

With plenty of attacking flair and talent, there is no reason why this Bradford City side could not take the FAWNL by storm. Their opening two fixtures has seen them produce mixed results with them initially beating Chorley Women 3-2 on their first matchday to seal three points of their 26/27 campaign. Despite a 5-1 loss to Stockport County Women, there is no denying Bradford City’s quality as they look to bounce back again in their next league fixture against Blackburn Rovers Women.
