NEWCOMERS TO TIER 4 (26/27)

After a nailbaiting 25/26 campaign which saw the title race in the East Midlands Regional Football League taken right down to the wire, Chesterfield FC Women have secured their place in the FAWNL!

They secured the league title with a total of 39 points consisting of 12 wins, 3 draws and only one defeat. This points tally was enough to see them triumph over second placed Loughborough Foxes Vixens Women by just one point. With such a competitive league creating such small margins for victory, Chesterfield had to stay hugely consistent in order to secure the title. This is something they definitely managed as their only league loss came in September with the side managing an unbeaten record from then onwards.

As well as securing the league title, Chesterfield also managed the double after their victory in the Derbyshire County Cup. The final saw them pitched against a tough Derby County Women U21 side with Chesterfield triumphing following some excellent performances from both captain Millie Standen and goalscorer Evie Carter.

As they look to make the tough adjustment into the 4th tier, they will be relying on some big performances from key players. Much of their goals can be put down to the attacking trio of cup hero Evie Carter as well as Elin Morin and Jessica Waplington. Between the 3 of them, they managed 47 goals this campaign and will be hoping to bring this excellent form into the Tier 4. Captain Fantastic Millie Standen will also be a key figure for the side. After having spent 6 years at the club, her experience as well as her ability to chip in with goals or assists in key moments will be a huge boost to this side.

They have shown their desire to succeed in Tier 4 with their summer signings setting a clear intent for the season to come. One massive signing is young winger Ruby Shore who represents Barbados internationally and has previously played for Sheffield United Women and Sporting Khalsa Women. Her eye for goal could be a game changer for the Spireites next season!
