After claiming the London and South East Regional Women’s title by one point, Dartford FC Women have booked their spot in the FAWNL for the 26/27 campaign. Their title season one was a tight one, which saw them take the league title right down to the wire, with only one point separating them and second placed Saltdean United Women.

Ultimately, this Dartford side displayed incredible consistency in order to secure the league title as they racked up 19 wins, two draws and one defeat across their entire league campaign. Not only is this tally hugely impressive, they also managed to stay consistent in the big moments with arguably their biggest match coming on the last day of their season. This fixture saw them square off against Saltdean in a title six pointer. A nailbiting fixture eventually saw Dartford come out on top and be crowned league champions following a 1-0 victory.

As well as their impressive league form, Dartford have also impressed in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup in a run which saw them reach the Third Round proper. Despite them eventually falling short in a heartbreaking extra time defeat to FAWNL side London Bees women, their narrow 3-2 defeat demonstrated that Dartford are undoubtedly a side of national league calibre. They did however manage some cup silverware following their victory in the County cup which completed the double and a near perfect season for Dartford!

Much of their success can be put down to their players who are also undoubtedly of Tier 4 standard. One such player is former Stoke City Women and BUCS National champion Lewis-Powell who has also played internationally for Grenada. A key addition to their forward line, Lewis-Powell will undoubtedly be a player to watch out for in the 26/27 campaign. Another key figure is their player’s player of the year and solid centre back Abbey Davies. Not only did Davies put in some hugely impressive defensive performances, she also managed the incredible feat of 12 goals this season illustrating the huge impact she has had on both ends of the pitch. Finally, it would not be possible to speak about key players without mentioning their captain and superstar midfielder Xayla-Rae Alberts. Having previously appeared on TV playing for Dorking United Wanderers, Alberts brings not only a host of footballing experience but also an enviable technical ability.

Their first match in Tier 4 saw this Dartford side claim a 1-1 draw with Dulwich Hamlet Women in a promising start to their 26/27 campaign. With some huge players and the ability to perform under pressure in big moments Dartford will be a side to look out for as they continue their move into Tier 4!
