After just missing out on the title, finishing one point behind Dartford Women following an impressive campaign of 19 wins, one draw and two defeats across 22 league games, Saltdean United Women still did enough to become National for next season. What is hugely impressive from this Saltdean side is their goal difference which at 60, is the highest tally in the league. Not only did they manage to score a huge 67 goals, even more impressively, they only conceded seven goals demonstrating just how solid their defense had been.

As well as securing a coveted promotion spot into the 4th tier, Saltdean women have also excelled outside of their league campaign in the cup competitions. For example, they secured the League Cup title in a tight final against Bromley FC which saw Saltdean hold their nerve in a penalty shootout to walk away with the victory. They also reached the county cup final following a convincing 7-0 win in the semi-final. The final saw them fall to defeat to Tier 4 Lewes Women but the fact that they reached the final is a testament to their excellent season.

Their promotion season can be partly attributed to the goal contributions from forward Georgia Bridges who managed a huge total of 27 goals this season. Having previously played for Lewes, she has a keen eye for goal and will be looking to build on her tally next season. Another player who has made a huge difference is Kirsty Barton. With a host of high level experience under her belt having previously played for clubs such as Crystal Palace and Chelsea Women, she has been an incredibly reliable player for her side and will be looking to build on this in the 26/27 season.

With 3 league games down in Tier 4, Saltdean United Women have definitely shown promise with their performances. They are currently sitting in 7th place in the Division One South East on four points having completed one win, one draw and one defeat. Their first victory came on the opening day with an excellent strike from Georgia Bridges claiming victory for her side. With their only league defeat coming against promotion hopefuls London Bees women, Saltdean United women will feel confident on their ability to build on their start to the campaign.

As the season continues to progress we wish Saltdean United the best of luck as they look to stamp their mark on the FAWNL!
