Welcome to Tier 4: Stevenage FC Women

After a truly incredible season in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League, Stevenage Women will now be competing in Tier 4 next season!

Their league campaign was a hugely impressive one as they managed the hugely impressive feat of remaining invincible across the entire season. With 20 league matches played, this Stevenage side dropped points in just one game claiming 19 victories and the 1 draw. Furthermore, their goal difference tally which sits on 70, 43 higher than their nearest rivals demonstrates just how dominating Stevenage have been this season.

As well as a near perfect league campaign, Stevenage completed their dream season through their incredible performances in their cup campaigns as well. Their victory in the league cup was secured in a convincing 5-0 win in the final against Harpenden Town women, a comfortable victory which demonstrated their ability to stay calm under pressure. Furthermore, their FA Cup run saw them take now Tier 3 Norwich City Women right down to the wire in a thrilling 3-4 First Round Proper clash. While they may have lost the tie, it demonstrates their ability to compete with some of the best teams that Tier 4 had to offer. They also completed the triple with their 3-2 victory in the county cup final courtesy of a double from Amber Pearson which saw her clinch the victory for her side in a dramatic last minute strike.

In order to complete the double, you need both attacking flair and a solid defensive line, something that this Stevenage side undoubtedly has. Across their league campaign, they conceded just 13 goals and much of this can be attributed to their goalkeeper Faye Hazleton. Former BUCS champion with the University of Nottingham, Hazleton has been an incredible shot shopper this season and a key figure between the sticks for her side. It would not be possible to speak about this Stevenage side without managing Sarah Wiltshire however. The forward this season has managed numbers that quite frankly do not seem possible. Across 30 appearances she managed 53 goals and 12 assists as well as collecting 10 opposition player of the match awards demonstrating how she has truly dominated every area of the pitch this season. These numbers will be enough to terrify any goalkeeper in Tier 4 unlucky enough to have to face her!

With both a dangerous attack and solid defence, Stevenage will be a team to watch out for as they move into Tier 4 and look to make their mark!
