Finishing as second placed and one of the best placed runner ups across Tier 5 has meant that Thornaby women have secured their place as a Tier 4 side for the 26/27 campaign. Read on for the full story

Finishing their campaign on 55 points, just two points off the champions Bradford City Women, Thornaby Women's notable record of 18 wins, one draw and one defeat was enough to secure their promotion. As well as an impressive general record, their home record was even more remarkable with the side maintaining an entirely invincible record off their ten league home games. What is even more outstanding is that since the appointment of new manager Curtis Collantine midway through the season, this Thornaby side had since managed 17 straight consecutive victories in the 25/26 season.

As well as their league success, Thornaby also recorded some cup success to top off an already epic season. Their cup final victory took place at the magnificent Riverside stadium with Thornaby recording a decisive victory against York City Development Ladies in a fixture that resulted in a 9-0 win. This victory came after eliminating Tier 4 York City Ladies in the semi-final following a 2-1 victory.

As for individual standout performances Sophie Curle and her incredible ability to find the back of the net in any situation cannot be ignored. With the striker finding the net an incredible 33 times in 24 matches, she will be hoping to build on this form and fire her team to a successful season in Tier 4. Another gifted player is Hannah Robson who signed for the club back in 2024 following a spell for Middlesbrough women. Last season, she was a consistent name on the teamsheet for Thornaby and has even chipped in with four goals across the season!

Now three games into their FAWNL league campaign, Thornaby women have recorded some excellent results. Having won two out of their initial three league matches, Thornaby women are currently sitting in sixth position on six points. These victories include a resounding 3-1 win against Chester Le Street Town Women and 3-0 win against Chorley Women. Both of these wins coming at home demonstrate what a force this Thornaby side can be when playing at their ground.
